HIGHWORTH Town chief John Fisher is already dreaming of Wembley as he prepares to lead the club into one of the biggest games in their history.

Town entertain Tunbridge Wells in the fourth round of the FA Vase on Saturday, with a place in the last 16 of the national competition up for grabs for the winner.

Highworth are still four victories away from a possible Wembley final and although Fisher knows it is a long shot, he is still setting his sights as high as possible.

“I know it sounds daft but someone has got to get to Wembley, haven’t they?” said Fisher.

“Back in 2005 Didcot won the Vase when we won the league, so it shows it can be done. We beat them twice that year but they got to play at Wembley.

“It’s the biggest game I can remember. I’ve never been in the last 32 before, Highworth have never been in the last 32 before, and I’m not sure any other team from around Swindon has either.

“If we win we are in the last 16 and it starts to get a bit closer.”

Standing in Highworth’s way this weekend are Southern Counties East League outfit Tunbridge Wells.

The Kent side head to the Elms in decent form, having won their last six games in all competitions.

Although Fisher acknowledges Highworth are heading into the unknown, he has full faith his side are capable of coming out on top.

“Apparently they’ve had us watched so they’ve done their homework. We were going to go down there the other week but the game was called off,” said Fisher.

“It’s things like set-pieces that you want to have a closer look at, but we haven’t been able to so we’ll just get on with it and hopefully we can deal with it.

“But we’ve made a few phone calls so we know a bit about them.

“When you get this far all the teams are equal. If we put everything together on the day we will be a formidable opponent. I’m confident we can get through but it’s just a case of who is better on the day.

“We have performed in every round so far so hopefully we can carry that on.”

The biggest concern for Fisher is the weather and he fears the game will have to be postponed if any more rain falls before the weekend.

“It’s all looking good at the moment but the only problem is the weather. The pitch is quite bad already so if we get any more rain it could be off,” he added.

“We are expecting a big crowd as I think they are bringing two coach-loads with them so I just hope it is on.”

Fellow Hellenic Premier Division side Shrivenham are without a fixture this weekend, while Wootton Bassett Town are at home to Longlevens AFC in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.
