JUSTIN Miller says revenge will not be on Purton’s mind when they entertain Carterton this weekend.

Miller’s men were thrashed 5-1 by the same opposition back in September and can set the record straight by turning in a much better performance at The Red House.

However, boss Miller insists the defeat has not added to his team’s appetite and they will just treat it like any other game.

“It was embarrassing getting beat 5-1 but we just want to play well for ourselves and try to get the three points,” said Miller.

“People have talked to me about us trying to get revenge but for us it’s just another game.”

Considering the previous result, few would expect it to be Purton sitting pretty in third in the table while Carterton languish fifth from bottom.

But despite their contrasting league positions, Miller is adamant the task ahead of his side is just as daunting as before.

“It will be a difficult one. They are a good team and have a couple of good forwards who can cause us problems,” said Purton.

“Looking at the league table they will feel like the underdogs but we know as well as anyone just how dangerous they can be.”

Purton’s recent rise is in no small part to their current nine-match unbeaten run in the league.

However, they remain seven points off leaders Lydney Town so Miller is not getting carried away.

“We know the top two will drop points and over the next three or four weeks we are playing every week,” said Miller.

“If we can continue this run over that time we will maybe start thinking about what’s ahead then.

“But with 10 games still to go we are just looking at one game at a time and trying to win each as they come about.”

Marcus Hall, Dave Gee and James Griffin are all in line to return to the Purton squad this weekend but Richie Saunders is a doubt after picking up a knee injury and Ben Carter is still suspended.

Elsewhere, New College are away at Clanfield and Fairford Town are without a fixture this weekend.
