ALL-OUT attack proved to be the perfect game-plan to help Purton stretch their unbeaten run to ten matches on Saturday.

After going in to the break a goal down at home to Carterton, a switch to a 3-4-3 formation in the second half saw Justin Miller’s men notch up a 2-1 victory, their fourth in a row.

With their clash the only game to take place in the Hellenic League Division One West, Purton remain third, three points behind second-placed Longlevens and full of confidence ahead of next weekend’s game against league leaders Lydney Town at the Red House.

“It was the best we’d started the game all season but they got a breakaway goal and we found ourselves 1-0 down at half-time,” said manager Miller.

“I wasn’t happy but I thought that we’d been playing really well. Our centre-half Steve Davies got injured so we chucked on Dave Gee and Dave Toomey and threw caution to the wind.

“Marcus Hall then scored for us and Dave Gee scored a brilliant goal – he’s lobbed the keeper from 35 yards and he could have got another one after that too.

“The pitch was heavy because of the snow but I was happy that our quality showed because that’s what myself and (assistant) Mark Jordan have been after.

“We’ve played a few more games than the other teams near us but we’re on a great run.

“Next weekend will be an interesting one but we’re definitely looking forward to it because of how many games we’ve gone unbeaten.”
