SWINDON Primary Schools FA held their second annual five-a-side festivals for younger pupils at the Futsal Arena in Kembrey Park.

More than 120 children took part in the two events, with girls and boys aged between seven and nine all taking part.

Association chairman Steve Beale said: “As the only local organisation with permission from the ESFA (English Schools Football A)ssociation and Department of Education to run inter-school football, we feel that these festivals are an ideal way to involve young children in the sport.

“The emphasis is on the children having fun and representing their schools, rather than on winning a tournament.

“Each player received a medal and a certificate in recognition of them taking part. We are very grateful to all the coaches from Ignite Sport UK, who refereed each match, and to @Futsal Swindon for hosting the events.”

Natalie Haigh, who ran the team from Goddard Park Primary, added: “The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to experience playing against other schools in such a friendly environment.”
