JOHN Fisher is adamant Highworth Town will not be taking lower-league Tytherington Rocks lightly tonight despite their FA Vase heroics at the weekend.

Highworth reached the fifth round of the national competition for the first time in their history with a penalty shootout success at Tunbridge Wells on Saturday.

They now turn their attentions to chasing silverware of a different kind, with Fisher’s men welcoming Division One West side Tytherington to the Elms in the second round of the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup.

With Highworth still in the Premier Division title race and the semi-finals of the Wiltshire Cup, this competition could be seen as lowest on Fisher’s list of priorities, but he says he does not want his team to take their foot off the gas.

“The Challenge Cup is an important competition as well for us and we want to get to the final of that. At the moment the quadruple is still on,” said Fisher.

“It keeps your season going and that’s what it’s all about.

“We are expected to win as they’re a Division One side and because we’re in the last 16 of the Vase people might think it’s a foregone conclusion but it’s not.

“You have to go out and give them the respect they deserve and that’s what the players will be told.

“The players know what they need to do but I’ll be expecting us to go there and do well.”

Fisher also revealed that he is likely to make changes to the side that started in Kent following a hectic eight days for his troops.

Both Saturday’s replay and the original tie a week earlier went to extra time and some of Highworth’s players are starting to feel the effects.

Fisher added: “I’m sure there will be a couple rested after Saturday because a few of them were out on their legs.”

Fellow Premier Division side Shrivenham are in league action and will be looking to build on Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Bracknell Town.

However, Sam Collier’s second-from-bottom side face a stiff task if they are to do that as they are on the road at high-flying Flackwell Heath.

“The draw on Saturday is a little starting block, we said we want to go on a little run and try and stay unbeaten and we started that with a very good performance,” said Collier.

“Now we have got to go to Flackwell, who are flying high and it will be tough but we are looking forward to it after Saturday and getting back out there and have another go.

“We have a run of four away games now that will be tough for us, but we will just take each game as it comes and see what it brings.

“No one will give us a prayer going there, I think they are second with a lot of games in hand, but we’ll go there and try and cause an upset.”
