FC Chippenham Youth manager Nigel Tripp was thankful for the opportunity to sit back and take it easy as his side effortlessly dispatched Sarum Youth last weekend.

Chippenham racked up their fifth win in six games, all of which have taken place at Stanley Park, with a thumping 7-1 victory on Saturday.

Early on, Ajay Arithoppah blasted home the first of his two goals to get the home side on their way and they never looked back, with Toby Clarke and Joe Forester also netting braces whilst Dan Sibley also netted after coming off the bench.

“It was nice to have a relaxing Saturday for once,” said Tripp.

“I don’t think that they turned up with a full side – they only had one sub and quite a few different players from the last time we played them.

“We got ourselves in front early on and carried on from there. Ajay was centre-back but he’s smacked one in from 40 yards.

“It’s the kind of goal that you won’t see too often.

“We kept playing our football and it was 5-0 at half-time.

“We’ve got a big squad and it was good to be able to give a few of the lads that haven’t played so often a game.

“Our aim was to blood youngsters and be as competitive as we can, and I’d say we’ve definitely done that so far.”

Chippenham take on league leaders Ludgershall Sports at Hardenhuish Park on Thursday night (kick-off 7.30pm).

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Melksham Town Reserves kept the heat on Ludgershall with a 5-0 victory at Vale of Pewsey whilst Trowbridge Wanderers won 4-0 at Supermarine Sports.

Malmesbury Victoria crushed near neighbours Wootton Bassett Town Development 8-2 whilst it was honours even between Southbrook and Wilts Calne Town, who played out a 2-2 draw.

Wroughton won 2-0 at Marlborough Town and Trowbridge Town also picked up three points away from home as they beat Westbury United Reserves 5-2.

Corsham Town Reserves notched up a second home win in a row, besting Devizes Town Reserves 2-1.
