QUARTER-FINAL hero Callum Parsons says he cannot imagine what it would be like to fire Highworth Town into the FA Vase final at Wembley.

Parsons got the only goal of the game as the Worthians upset the odds to win their quarter-final replay away at Yorkshire outfit Tadcaster Albion a fortnight ago.

Town are back on the Wembley trail this afternoon when they welcome North Shields, of the Northern League Division One, to the Elms for the first leg of their semi-final (3pm).

Parsons is still overwhelmed by his exploits in the previous round but the 19-year-old says he would give anything for a repeat performance against North Shields.

“I was very nervous when we first got up to Tadcaster as the ground was absolutely packed,” said Parsons.

“It was a great atmosphere and it is definitely the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of.

“Scoring the winner was just mental, really. I’d definitely take doing it again over the next two weeks. Scoring the winner in the next two games would be crazy.

“I never thought we would be here at the start of the season. No one expected us to get where we are.

“Everyone has put a downer on us every time we’ve had to go away somewhere, saying we’re going to lose but we’ve proved them wrong every time.”

A big part of Highworth’s success this season has been Parsons’ partnership up front with skipper TJ Bohane.

The duo have bagged 52 goals in all competitions between them this season, although Bohane is way out in front at the top of the scoring charts with a individual haul of 37.

But Parsons – who arrived at Highworth from local rivals Fairford Town a little over a year ago – insists everyone has played their part.

“It’s the best season I’ve ever had. I didn’t think I’d be up front with TJ at the start of the season but we seem to do well together,” added Parsons.

“We just seem to think along the same lines and just seem to know what the other one is doing.

“He’s such a good goalscorer and if I ever see him go in one-on-one with the keeper I know he’s going to score.

“We’ve done well together but it’s a big team effort. Someone like Ashley Taylor has been amazing in defence.

“I feel so confident when he is at the back, and the whole back four have been outstanding, really.”

Meanwhile Town boss John Fisher hopes he can keep a family promose by leading his side to Wembley.

Only a probably 180 minutes of football stand between Fisher’s men and a dream day out at the home of English football – which would be The Elms chief’s first visit to the stadium – old or new.

Fisher told TheFA.com: “My dad is 87 and he’s never been to Wembley either.

“Three rounds ago I said to him ‘if we get there you can lead the team out’ - at first he didn’t believe me - now I think he’s polishing his shoes.

“I’ve worked with him since I was 18, we had a building business, then painting and decorating. “He’s retired now obviously but every Friday we meet up for a couple of beers like we used to and I made him that promise.”
