MARK Collier admits his Chippenham Town side may have to simplify their approach as they look to finish their Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division campaign with a flourish.

Goals from Truro City’s Isaac Vassell and Shane White, from the penalty spot, handed the Bluebirds a seventh home league defeat of the season, despite Alex Ferguson’s late strike for the home side.

Collier reckons Truro’s experience and physicality made the difference on a difficult Hardenhuish Park playing surface and reckons his players may have to alter their own game on the run-in.

“The pitches are becoming a little bit tougher at this time of year and we maybe need to consider being a little bit more direct,’’ said the Town boss.

“It’s a learning curve for us a little bit. I was disappointed that we didn’t have a really good go in the second half. There was not a lot between the two sides, but sometimes we may have to look at cutting out a couple of passes and getting it forward a bit more quickly.”

Vassell rounded Kent Kauppinen before rolling the ball past two defenders on the line for the opener on six minutes. With 20 minutes remaining, White converted from the spot after Chippenham goalkeeper Kent Kauppinen had fouled Rob Farkins.

Ferguson tucked away a low cross from the right in injury time, but it was too little too late.

Collier added: “We want to win as many games as possible between now and the end of the season.

“We set ourselves a target of getting to 53 points which would be Chippenham’s best for a few years and we’ll also have a look at a few of our youngsters between now and the end of the season.’’
