FAIRFORD Town boss Gareth Davies claimed that the scoreline didn’t reflect the game as they lost 4-1 away to Hook Norton.

The Cinder Lane outfit are now without a win in three as their last away trip of the season ended in disappointment.

The hosts took an early lead but went in level at half-time courtesy of a strike from Alex Rudd.

However three second half goals from the home side were enough to send Davies’ team home with no points.

“We got out of the traps and I thought we started quite well,” said Davies.

“I thought we were the better side in the first half and I think they head a header where Mike Alexander made a great save and a mistake that cost us and we were 1-0 down.

“I don’t think until they scored that they caused us too many problems.

“Going forward we were creating chances and we equalised and when we went in at half time we had a chat with them and said if we can raise the tempo a little bit we thought there was something there for them.

“We went out in the second half and I don’t think it was a 4-1 game it was just one of those typical end of season games where neither side had much to play for and when the second goal went in we folded.”

Davies must now prepare his side for their last game of the season as they travel to Cirencester Town Development on Tuesday evening.

The match has been re-arranged from earlier in the season and the Cinder Lane boss is hoping to be boosted by a few players returning to the line-up and is hoping to end the season on a positive note.

“We were a few short on Saturday but I am hoping to have more available on Tuesday and we should have a decent squad to choose from,” he added.

“With it being the last game of the season, a nice pitch and nice ground, hopefully we can put in a good performance and finish the year on a high.”
