SWINDON Supermarine chief Dave Webb is expecting nothing less than a fearsome challenge from Didcot Town when they visit the Webb’s Wood Stadium this weekend.

The Railwaymen’s chances of making the play-offs died last weekend when they were thrashed 5-1 by Evesham United but Webb isn’t expecting them to just go through the motions on Saturday.

Marine are looking to finish their own campaign in a positive fashion and the Webb’s Wood boss is anticipating a tough test against a team boasting the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West’s most feared hitman – 43-goal John Mills.

“I think Didcot will come to try and win. They’ve had a sensational season and they’ll want to finish sixth,” said Webb.

“I know their management team from playing against them and I know that they’re very competitive.

“They also have a striker that’s scored 43 goals this season in John Mills and we’ll have to try and deal with that.

“In the last few years, we’ve been a team in the play-offs and people come to Swindon Supermarine expecting a tough game. The pitch is relatively good and it’s a nice place to play football.”

Saturday’s clash will be Marine’s penultimate outing of the season before they host Cinderford Town on April 25.

Webb added: “We’ve got two teams that will expect to be in the play-offs next season and we want to finish on a high and show we can compete with them.”

Jake Simpson, Scott Bevan and Marcus Johnston-Schuster are all doubts ahead of the game against Didcot whilst Bradley Gray and Joe Shepherd are ruled out.
