MICHAEL McNally has been appointed Shrivenham manager on a full-time basis for the 2015-16 season.

McNally took over at the club on a temporary basis at the back end of last season following the departure of previous boss Sam Collier after a disappointing run of form in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Although McNally was unable to prevent Shrivvy from finishing second from bottom in the table – with the side expected to be relegated – the club’s board have decided he is the best man to take them forward.

Shrivenham chairman James Dore said: “Macca was a popular choice amongst all the committee when we met.

“We had lots of applicants for the position of which I’d like to extend my thanks as it shows despite our relegation, people in the local football community have a lot of time for our club.

“Macca, with his local knowledge and the way in which he helped bring on younger local players into the club towards the end of the season, impressed us all and gave us a little glimpse into the future.

"We face a rebuilding job at the club in the next few years but with a good youth section beneath us starting to bear fruit and some experienced additions, we will be looking to have an exciting season.

“We certainly are not dropping down to make up the numbers and I know Macca feels the same and is excited by the prospect of challenging next year.

“We as a club will obviously support Macca in any way we can and can’t wait to get started again.”

McNally will be announcing his new management team in the coming weeks, although it has been confirmed that club stalwart Mark Stevens will continue in his role as manager of the club’s development team.

Pre-season training gets under way at the club on Tuesday, June 23, with full details set to appear on the club’s website www.shrivenhamfc.co.uk in the coming weeks.

The club are also looking to secure ore-season friendlies at home for both sides on most Saturdays and Tuesdays from July 11. Contact chairman Dore on 07775 933076 or jdoreyboy@aol.com for more information.
