SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb is hoping to turn the Webb’s Wood Stadium into a fortress after seeing his side drop too many points there last season.

Supermarine suffered 10 defeats at home last campaign, as many as they won as they ended up finishing in a disappointing 14th place.

With Webb preparing his side for their first home match of the season against Shortwood, who were 4-1 victors over Wimborne Town on Saturday, he is hoping to rectify that immediately.

“They are going to come full of confidence, but we should be full of confidence as well,” he said.

“Our home form needs to improve on last season and hopefully we can start making it difficult for teams who come to the Webb’s Wood.

“We have got to make sure our home form is good and not lose as many games as we did last season at home.

“I am sure the players will be feeling it a little bit, it was hot and they will be feeling tired, I know I am.

“I have got to try and decide who plays and who doesn’t, but it is good to have lots of options.

“It is not about 11, it is about the group of 18 or 19 that we have got and I am hoping this players stick together through the season and we can have a good go on improving what we did last season.

“Obviously trying to challenge for the play-offs again is our aim.”

Highworth boss John Fisher will be looking to build on their fine start to their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign when they host Tuffley Rovers.

Meanwhile, in the Hellenic League Division One West Shrivenham boss Michael McNally will be looking for their first win of the season as he continues to ring the changes ahead of their trip to North Leigh United.

“Hopefully I will have a few players back and I might even try and get one or two new additions in before that game if I can,” said McNally.

“It is going to take time.

“It will be a tough game at North Leigh.

“I’m not sure if their first team have a game, but if they haven’t then you could be playing against six or seven first team players.

“I am not concerned about them though and if we go there with the right attitude then hopefully we will get something out of the game.”
