SWINDON Supermarine's perfect start to their Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West campaign continued tonight as they defeated Shortwood United 2-0 at the Webbs Wood Stadium.

Dave Webb's men, 3-0 winners at Banbury United in their opening match at the weekend, kept another clean sheet and Ryan Stanners netted in each half.

The opener came just after the half hour mark as Stanners finished at the far post following good work between Connor Waldon and Joe Shepherd.

The points were wrapped up 10 minutes from time as substitute Oli Bailey teed up Josh Morse, whose shot was blocked allowing Stanners to finish.

Andy Sandell took his tally to three in two games with a goal in each half as Chippenham maintained their own fine start in the Premier Division with a 2-0 success at home to Bideford.

Highworth Town romped to a 5-0 win over Tuffley Rovers in the Hellenic League Premier Division, TJ Bohane and Chris Jackson netting in the first half.

Bohane completed his hat-trick with two more after the break and Dan Drewett added a fifth to conclude the rout.

In Division One West, Shrivenham slumped to a 5-2 defeat at the hands of North Leigh.

Meanwhile, Royal Wootton Bassett will welcome back Adam Corcoran when they travel to Oxford City Nomads on Wednesday evening.

After their long awaited return to playing in Royal Wootton Bassett at the weekend, boss Paul Braithwaite will be looking forward to having the pressure off on the road.

“It will be nice to be away,” he said.

“It is a game we can say to the lads ‘just go out and enjoy it’.

“We did say that at the weekend, but you could see, from the moment they turned up, that the pressure was on them.

“I think there were a few things from the weekend that we can work on in training.

“Wednesday we can be ourselves, get on with the game, and hopefully the right result will come with the performance.”
