FAIRFORD Town kick off their quest for Gloucestershire FA Trophy glory today when they take on Cirencester Town Development at Cinder Lane.

Despite the distraction the cup poses, manager Gareth Davies hopes that his side can take confidence from their 3-0 success over Clanfield 85.

“I’m hoping in the run of games we have got coming up they can continue from where they left off on Saturday, it is just a shame that they are not league games,” said Davies.

“It will be another tough game against Cirencester Development, but I’m hoping they will go into full of confidence.

“They are all good players, because if they weren’t then they wouldn’t be sat in our dressing room. They just need to take that on now.”

With Ben Hillerby away and Scott Griffin struggling with a groin injury, Davies will be looking to change his side around, with some of the fringe players given a chance to prove themselves.

“If I’m honest the cup is a bit of a distraction, but we just need to kick-on,” added Davies.

“Ciren are a young side and you just don’t know what you are going to get.

“We will make a few changes and the lads who haven’t been playing and have been very patient will get a run out. The lads who have been on the bench, their attitudes have been spot on because they want us to do well.”
