SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb is happy to be back to winning ways after ending league leaders North Leigh’s 100 per cent record.

The hosts did well to hold the table-toppers for the first half an hour.

However, the breakthrough came on 32 minutes when Keiran Sanders opened the scoring for the visitors.

His effort from a tight angle went through the legs of Matt Bulman to put them in front.

But the hero became the villain moments later when he saw red for a foul on Chris Taylor.

With the man advantage, Dave Webb’s side were able to capitalise and Bradley Gray’s volley with a minute remaining had them back level at half-time.

Marine took the lead in the 59th minute when Luke Hopper nodded home Ashley Edenborough’s cross from close range.

The player numbers were levelled when Edenborough saw red for a second bookable offence, but Webb’s side were able to hold on for the impressive win.

“We knew how difficult it was going to be against them – they are 14 unbeaten - and we started the game very positively and took the game to them,” said Webb.

“We could have scored three early on but they came into the game then and got the goal.

“They’re sending off was definitely a red card. Sanders, who scored the goal, has gone in so high on Chris Taylor and that has handed us the advantage.

“We get the goal just before half-time through Bradley Gray, a fantastic strike and the momentum swung our way then.

“The second half we got in front with a goal from Luke Hopper and then Ashley Edenborough gets a second yellow, which I don’t think was a yellow, and we had a nervy 25 minutes to see the game through.

“I thought we did that well and it was a great win after two defeats.

“I am sure there will be a few tired bodies today but the win will give everybody a big lift.”

New signings Luke Matthews, who signed on a dual contract from Bath City on Friday, and Marcus Johnson-Shuster, from Burnham, both started and Webb was pleased to add some more depth to his defensive ranks.

“Luke has been at Bath, but hasn’t been in the team, so it was a good opportunity to get him back in and strengthen.

“Defensive-wise we have got a few injuries and that i s an area we needed to get in.

“Marcus was with us last season, so it is two good players who we know all about so there is no risk in bringing those two players in.”
