TAWNY Owl chief Ajay Sahota has challenged his troops to match their previous heroics and go unbeaten all season after moving into pole position in the Premier Division.

In a previous guise as Fratellos, Sahota and co swept aside all before them in the 2013/14 season, winning the title with a perfect record and triumphing in the Adver Cup for good measure.

Now reformed as Tawny Owl, the team got the better of closest rivals Avtar Construction on Saturday to make it five from five in the league with a 4-2 success on the road and move three points clear at the top.

“The Adver called us the Invincibles back then so we’d like to try to do that again,” said Sahota.

“We don’t just want to finish unbeaten, we want to win every game too. Having beaten Avtar, and beaten them quite comfortably, it sets us up quite well for the rest of the season and our confidence is pretty high.”

Headers from Jack Allen and Richard Gee put Tawny Owl in control at Sevenfields in Penhill, before Allen got his second from the penalty spot.

Jamie Sheppard then scored the goal of the game – a 25-yard strike – to make it 4-0 before a red card for Danny Cole threatened to derail them.

Avtar got back into it through goals from Ryan Welland and Chris Price but the fightback ended when the home side were also reduced to 10 men.

Sahota added: “Those guys have been at the top alongside us so we knew what we were up against.

“The back-line did really well and Darren Coleman made two really good one-on-one saves in goal. Without that it could have been different but everyone played really well.”

KS Miltax won the only other game to go ahead in the top flight, downing bottom side DJC Marlborough 3-0 at home thanks to goals from Tatenda Majoni, Kamil Fiedorowicz and Florin Palcau.

Swindon Spitfires continue to set the pace in Division One after thrashing visiting Bassett Bulldogs 6-0. Michael Cox and Luke Burroughs both bagged braces, with Stephen Hughes and Joshua Archer also on target.

Carl Marsh helped himself to a hat-trick as second-placed Morris Street romped to a 6-1 success at R&D United. James Turpie got two and Cameron Baden completed the rout, with Dan Green on target for United from the penalty spot.

Ramsbury came from two goals down to triumph 4-2 at Moredon. Jack Stone, Geogian Radulescu, Max Derrick and Ashley Bowes inspired the comeback, replying to Tom Goody’s early double for Moredon.

Sport 4 Pinehurst had been on course for a win over North Swindon WMC, leading 2-0 when their match was abandoned.
