STEVE Robertson has got everything crossed that Swindon Town Ladies’ delayed FA Women’s Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow goes ahead.

The Town Ladies boss welcomes North London giants Spurs to Shrivenham’s Barrington Park in the second round proper (kick-off 2pm).

However, with temperatures set to plummet further across the weekend, casting doubt over Town’s showpiece tie, Robertson is hoping that his team will finally get their chance to lock horns with Spurs after the game was rained off last week.

“The name Tottenham Hotspur is such a big draw and we know that we have got a lot of people coming out to support the girls,” said Robertson.

“But the forecast is not looking good and the chances of the game going ahead are looking slim.

“It would be so good if we could play because we haven’t played since before Christmas and we are looking forward to it.

“It is frustrating because we are already playing catch-up in the league because of cup runs.

“But we have prepared for this. We should have everyone available – the girls who were out injured are now back.”

If they can get the better of Spurs, who play in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, a step higher than Town, then Robertson’s side will travel to either Forest Green Rovers or Gillingham in the third round, with ties scheduled to be played on February 7.

With Town not having their own ground, they have also been restricted with the training that they have been able to do in recent weeks.

“It would be great if we could go out and get on the grass but we rely on the generosity of Shrivenham,” said Robertson, whose team haven’t played since beating Old Actonians in the FA WPL Cup on December 20.

“We really can’t go out and train on their pitch but we do train twice a week on the 3G up at Stratton Grange and play five-a-side at the futsal arena.”
