DPR’S sparkling season continues to shine on after they claimed the scalp of Deers Leap to march into the semi-finals of the Knockout Cup last weekend.

The Division Three outfit remain unbeaten all season and are now just one game away from contesting silverware after a 1-0 triumph over Division One opposition, with Lewis Chatwin capitalising on a miscued throw from the Deers Leap keeper to net the only goal of the game.

DPR are second in Division Three with two games in hand on table-toppers Woodland Edge and manager Liam Lewis is keen to see just how far his team can continue to ride on the crest of a wave.

“We’re still unbeaten. We’ll keep going week-by-week and take every game as it comes but we’ve got a big league game this week against Uruguay (Sociedad) – I think it’ll be between us and them for the league,” he said.

“There are a few big teams left in (the Knockout Cup) now and a few games left to be played but it was a good win for us on Sunday.

“We knew before the game that they would be a super-organised team. Obviously, they’re a Division One team and they’re doing alright up there so the message to the lads was ‘stay organised and take your chances’.

“We knew there wouldn’t be many of them but their keeper made a bit of a mistake and Lewis Chatwin hit a goal from 30 or 35 yards. From there, it was just organisation.

“The back four were absolutely sensational. Steve Keir probably had the game of his life and the keeper, Luke (Kuczynski), did well. Every single player was superb.

“I couldn’t fault any single lad. They put 110 per cent into that game and I was so proud of them at the end.”

Elsewhere, FC Walcot are into the semi-finals of the Wiltshire Sunday Cup after beating Chippenham League AFC Melksham 4-0, whilst back in the Swindon Sunday League, Division Two leaders West Swindon Wanderers beat G Power Solutions 5-2.

Fox & Hounds Freshbrook beat Nationwide 7-3 to move top of Division Four, whilst Highworth Town Sunday hammered Northern Lights 8-0 in Division Five.
