HIGHWORTH Town boss John Fisher has targeted a nine-point haul at the Elms if his side are to have any chance of getting back into the Premier Division title race.

The Worthians were 2-1 winners over Brackley Town Saints last weekend and have two more home games in succession, starting against Milton United tomorrow.

Fisher’s side are 12 points off top spot in fifth but do have two games in hand on leaders Flackwell Heath.

Although they remain the outsiders in the pack, Fisher thinks any hopes of mounting a challenge will rest on the next fortnight.

“We had Brackley, now we have Milton and then we have Highmoor after that. We have three home games in a row,” said Fisher.

“We have got to win on Saturday. There’s no disrespect to anyone but when sides are in the bottom half of the table, if you have got any aspirations of doing anything, you have got to beat them.

“You let the top-half teams take care of themselves, it’s when you go to the bottom 10 sides, that’s where your season is won and lost.

“It’s another must-win because we can’t afford to drop points. We have to hope we keep picking up points and that the other teams drop them.

“Looking back, three points against Thame (a 3-2 loss on February 6) would have put us right back in the mix because it would have closed us up.”

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have no game this weekend but drew 2-2 at home to Tuffley Rovers on Wednesday night.

Steve Robertson’s header put Paul Braithwaite’s men ahead but Jordan Fletcher equalised in first-half stoppage time.

Bassett were quickest out of the blocks in the second half and Matt Cheetham put them back in front.

However, Tuffley again hit back quickly as Glenn Gittens struck to earn his side a point.
