WANBOROUGH found the answer to G Power Solutions as hat-tricks from Sam McVeigh and Jack Jones secured a comfortable 7-0 win in Division Two.

The visitors had raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time and wrapped up the points in the second half as Matt Harmer added to the two trebles with a strike of his own.

The victory did not lift Richard Payne’s side up any places but put some breathing room between them and the bottom three.

“We were lucky to field a side because we had eight of our normal squad away this weekend,” he said.

“It was about getting in a few of the players who don’t normally play involved and we did well on the day.

“We started the game really quickly and went 3-0 up in the first half, and went on from there.

“The opposition, when we played them earlier in the season, were much stronger than they were yesterday.

“They still gave us a good game but we just run away with it in the end.

“It separates us from a few of the team downs at the bottom and the table now looks a lot better for us.

“We just want to keep it positive now for the rest of the season and we’re all having a good laugh whilst we are enjoying our football.

“We are out of the cups now, so it about focusing on the league for us.”

Elsewhere in the division, Shrivenham Sunday closed the gap on leaders West Swindon Wanderers as they came out on top of a nine-goal thriller to beat The Windmill 6-3, while FS Swindon were 1-0 victors over Rodbourne Real.
