DAVE Webb conceded that he could not be overly annoyed at having to settle for a point after Swindon Supermarine shipped a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at home to Taunton Town on Tuesday night.

The two Division One South & West play-off chasers played out an entertaining encounter at the Webb’s Wood Stadium, with a goal from substitute Josh Morse seemingly decisive six minutes from time.

However, Marine could not cling on until the final whistle, with Jordan Rogers snatching an equaliser for Taunton deep into stoppage time.

The draw saw Marine extend their unbeaten league run to a 15th game, and that is the over-riding element that manager Webb will take from the game.

“You are always disappointed when you concede a late equaliser, you could see that from the players’ reaction in the dressing room afterwards,” said Webb.

“On reflection, it was an excellent game between two good sides and I think if any neutrals were there, they’d have said it was a fair result.

“Both sides had chances and our goalkeeper, Harvey Rivers, made two of the best saves you will see. Taunton might well feel that they deserved to be in front.

“When you take the lead with six minutes to go you are naturally going to be disappointed to then go and let one in three minutes into stoppage time.

“We gave away the ball away and they broke and scored from a disputed offside decision, but at our level it’s very hard to have real clarity on that.

“We are disappointed to drop two points but not disappointed at extending our unbeaten run to 15 games now.

“Overall it was a cracking game between two sides that will hopefully be challenging for promotion come the end of the season.”

Marine will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday. Webb’s men are at home again, with lowly Bridgwater Town the visitors to the Webb’s Wood Stadium.
