DAVE Webb says Swindon Supermarine cannot afford to slip up at home again as they look to reinforce their title credentials on Saturday.

A stoppage-time equaliser from visitors Taunton Town robbed Webb’s men of all three points on Tuesday night as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw and Marine are back at the Webb’s Wood Stadium this weekend when Bridgwater Town make the trip from west Somerset.

With the top four teams in Division One West separated by just four points, Marine cannot afford to lose ground to any of their rivals.

Although Bridgwater are residing at the other end of the table, with Paul West’s troops sitting fourth-from-bottom, Webb says there is no chance of complacency from his side as they look to make it 16 games unbeaten in the league.

“It’s an important game for us and if we dropped points at home again, we would be disappointed,” said Webb.

“We don’t look at them and say they are struggling towards the bottom. They have a very competitive team and a very passionate manager, who will motivate his team and get them up to stop our good run. It won’t be easy.

“This is our third game of seven in a three-week spell, so it’s a tough little run we’ve got and it’s a really, really important game.

“A week on Saturday, we have got Winchester, who have moved to the top of the table. That game will take care of itself; it’s the ones against Bridgwater and Evesham next Tuesday that we really have to concentrate on.

“We’ve lost five league games this season and most of those defeats were in the early part of the season.

“We have been playing catch-up and have put this run together to bring ourselves back into contention, and you have got to give the players credit for that.”

Full-back Ryan Morgan came off in midweek with a tight hamstring while forward Josh Parsons missed the game altogether through injury.

Both players will be assessed before Saturday’s game but they are the only concerns facing Webb this weekend.

Josh Morse is likely to return to the Marine line-up against Bridgwater, having come off the bench to net Marine’s goal against Taunton.

“He had scored in his previous two but we wanted to freshen up our wide players on Tuesday, so he started on the bench,” said Webb.

“Fair play to him - he came on and scored a good goal to make it three games in a row that he’s scored in and stake a claim that he should be starting every week.”
