FAIRFORD Town will be looking to secure that Friday feeling when they entertain Cirencester Town Development this evening.

The match will serve as the official unveiling of the new floodlights at the club’s Cinder Lane home, which have been acquired thanks to a grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.

Fairford boss Davies insists the celebrations will not be a distraction for his players as their sole focus is on securing a win to help extend their advantage at the top of the table.

“With it being a derby, I think they’ve moved it to try to get a few more people through the gate. It should be a good atmosphere and hopefully it’s a good game too,” said Davies.

“For the team, we will just prepare as normal. We won’t change anything. We will just keep everyone focused on the game at hand and try to pick up three points.

“We had Letcombe last Tuesday (February 16) and we just need a bit of consistency but playing one week and then not the next is not helping that.

“After Friday’s game, I think we go back to having a game every Saturday and we will have nine games left to try to achieve something.

“We are not worried about what is going on behind us. We just need to focus on these 10 games and if we’re able to keep picking up results, it means the teams behind us still have to catch us.

“You can’t make predictions - in a derby anything can and will happen. We need to come out of the traps and start well and get a foothold in the game and then try to kick on.”

New College climbed off the bottom of the table with a 1-1 draw at home to Clanfield on Wednesday night but will have to wait for the chance to claim a first win since October as they have no game this weekend.

Fellow strugglers Shrivenham will look to make it back-to-back victories when they play host to North Leigh United.
