TOP SCORER Steve Robertson says it is all about consistency for Royal Wootton Bassett Town.

Paul Braithwaite’s side have played eight games since the turn of the year but have so far failed to put two wins in a row together.

Their most recent results read: win, lose, draw, with the latest being last Wednesday’s 2-2 stalemate at home to Tuffley Rovers.

Although Bassett are positioned safely in mid-table in the Premier Division, Robertson reckons they need to find their best form more frequently if they are to climb higher, starting at home to Lydney Town on Saturday.

“We have been up and down recently and we haven’t performed as well as we can,” said Robertson.

“Every team has a tough spell where they aren’t hitting their best but we have got a good group of lads and we will stick together.

“The gaffer sat us down and said he doesn’t mind losing 1-0 as long as the performance is there. We haven’t been playing badly, we just need to be more consistent.

“When you play midweek games, it’s tough. It doesn’t matter who you play. You never know who you are going to have available so I think that 2-2 was a good result and hopefully we can kick on from that.

“Lydney are a big, strong side. We have had a couple of games against them already this year, so hopefully we can take something from those and get a good result.”

Highworth Town take a break from league action this weekend and will instead go in search of a place in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Challenge Cup third round. John Fisher’s side welcome Highmoor-Ibis to the Elms.
