SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb wants to bolster his defensive ranks ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wimborne Town.

Ryan Morgan and Ross Adams were both forced to miss the mid-week win at home to Mangotsfield United, leaving Webb without two of his regular back four.

The Marine manager is attempting to bring Tyron Leigh to the Webb’s Wood Stadium from Division One South & West rivals Wantage Town to provide some much-needed cover.

Webb is hopeful that Adams will be fit to travel to Dorset this weekend but Morgan is definitely out with a back problem, so the addition of Leigh could be crucial if the deal can be wrapped up in time.

“Tyron had a bright future ahead of him not too long ago. He was potentially going to go to Bristol City and that didn’t happen,” said Webb.

“We’re excited, I have been looking at him for a while and we have never managed to get over the line. Hopefully it will be done ready for the weekend.

“With Ryan and Ross both injured, we also lose Kyle Lapham and Chris Taylor, who are going on holiday after the weekend.

“We are going to be a bit short in certain areas so it was important to get someone else in.

“Ross’ hamstring is tight. The last thing I want to do is lose someone of his experience and quality for the rest of the season.

“On Tuesday it was too much of a risk but hopefully with a rest, he may be okay.”

The midweek win over Mangotsfield was an important fillip after back-to-back defeats and Webb is looking for another three points at Wimborne to help maintain their play-off push.

“We have to try to get something out of each game and see how many points we can get to get into the play-off,” said Webb.

“Wimborne is a very difficult place to go. They are having an indifferent season - they are usually a top-half side.

“It’s not about silky, flowing football, it’s about winning your personal battles and making sure we do enough to win.

“I always try to encourage my players to pass and play football the right way but that doesn’t always get you success. You need to be able to mix it up and the next game will be exactly that.”
