PURTON manager Justin Miller says his players will be treating this weekend’s game against Division One West league leaders Fairford Town the same as any other.

Miller’s men suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to the table toppers back in November but will go into this game high in confidence after thrashing bottom side Tytherington Town last week.

Four goals from Ben Carter saw Purton ease to victory - their first win in 2016 - despite a mixed performance.

And Miller knows his team are in for a much sterner test on Saturday against a team who have lost just four of their 22 games so far this season.

Miller said: “We are not frightened of the prospect. We need to make sure we do our jobs and we are focused.

“We have played two of the top four in the last few weeks and we have been in those games. We played bottom last week, it’s top this week, we need to make sure we are on our game.

“It’s just another game. It’s a local derby but I don’t expect it to be any different to any other game, they are all pretty lively encounters in this league.”

Despite a very disrupted season, Purton will have just five games left to play after this weekend and Miller is hoping to see his side improve their form in front of goal.

“We have not scored in enough games. That’s the frustrating thing and that’s why we are where we are in the league,” he said.

“We have lost seven of 20 league games but every one we have lost, we have been in those games, we have not been out played.

“The season has been up and down, we have lost quite a few players who have gone to other clubs.

“We went six weeks without playing so it’s been a difficult season - it’s been like two seasons in one.”

n ROYAL Wootton Bassett will be aiming for their first Premier Division win since February 6 when they host Binfield on Saturday.

Paul Braithwaite’s team have managed three draws and suffered three defeats in that time and sit 13th in the table.

Dale Richards’ late strike saw Bassett came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Brackley Town Saints on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Highworth Town were held to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday at Lydney.

John Fisher’s side have no game this weekend.
