SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb knows his side can’t afford to take their opponents Burnham lightly this weekend.

Tomorrow’s visitors to the Webb’s Wood Stadium may only be a place off of the foot of the Southern League Division One South & West League table but will be fighting for every point as they look to remain in the league.

With eight games to go, Marine have an eight point cushion between themselves and Evesham United just outside the play-offs in sixth spot and Webb knows it is vital to take advantage of their next two games to maintain that.

“They are second bottom of the league and we have to be mindful of that,” he said.

“If you look at the league table, they are still in with a chance of escaping relegation if they can put some results together.

“Anybody expecting an easy afternoon are going to be sadly mistaken.

“We went to Wimborne last weekend and they put up a hell of a fight, especially in the first half.

“The next two games we play Burnham and Bashley and it is vitally important that we show our quality and get two wins.

“The play-off spots are still very competitive. Evesham are on a really good run of form and are waiting to take advantage of any side that slips up.

“We need to start on Saturday like we finished against Wimborne.”

Bradley Gray and Josh Parsons will both undergo late fitness tests as they both look to shake off niggles ahead of the weekend, while Ryan Morgan (back) will still be missing for the hosts, along with Kyle Lapham and Chris Taylor, who are both on holiday.

With the deadline to bring any new recruits in closing next week, Webb will be keeping an eye on the loan market to add to his squad before the final run in.

“We’re a few bodies down but we have still got an excellent squad,” he added.

“We still have 16 players available for the weekend and once the players come back we would have a 19 man squad.

“It is about getting the right player but I am happy with where we are at.

“You never say never but with the deadline just under a week away we’d have to move pretty quickly.”
