SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb believes there’s more to come from his side after a comfortable 2-0 victory over struggling Burnham on Saturday.

Two Supermarine goals inside the opening ten minutes secured the win for the hosts, who took another important step towards the Division One South and West play-offs.

The victory is Supermarine’s third on the bounce and Webb wants his side to hit their peak in time for the promotion push at the end of the season.

He said: “At this stage of the season it’s just about winning games. After a shaky first five minutes where they have got in a bit too easily, we’ve scored two good goals and were in a comfortable position.

“The thing that disappoints me is we dropped our levels, our quality dropped a little bit, we didn’t keep the ball, we didn’t pass the ball well enough and we gave them too many chances on our goal.

“We know we’ve got to be a lot better than we were at certain times today. We know we can be a lot better and we’ll improve.

“It’s all about hitting our best form if we reach those play-offs. It’s not about how we played today we could have played brilliantly today scored seven or eight, get into the play-offs and get beaten easily.

“For me it’s all about how we improve, keeping the players fit and making sure if we are successful in getting to the play-offs that we reach a good level of form.”

It took just five minutes for Supermarins to break the deadlock at the Webb’s Wood Stadium as Ross Adams rose to head home unmarked from a Bradley Gray corner.

The home side doubled their lead just two minutes later as Connor Waldon slotted home at the near post after good build-up play down the right.

Despite plenty of chances for both sides, with the visitors looking particularly dangerous on the counter-attack, it stayed 2-0 through to half-time.

The second half was a scrappy affair with neither side managing to really test the opposition goalkeeper.

“I think the game deteriorated, we didn’t relax and pass the ball, we dropped our level,” Webb added.

“We just didn’t control the game as well as I would have expected us to that’s what I’m disappointed about but my disappointment has gone now.

“We’re on to get the biggest points total in my time as manager so I can’t be too hard on them but we know we can be a lot better.”

Supermarine have lost just two of their last 20 games in the league but are still six points behind leaders Cinderford, who have three games in hand.
