SWINDON Town Ladies manager Steve Robertson is hoping that his side’s surge up FA Women’s Premier League South West Division One table still hasn’t been noticed by some of their rivals.

Town’s cup commitments earlier this season left them with a dearth of league fixtures to make up but their flawless recent form continued on Sunday as they comfortably dispatched Exeter City 3-0 to move up into second.

Robertson’s side are unbeaten in the league after a fifth straight victory and now find themselves two points behind leaders Larkhall Athletic with a full three matches in hand.

But their boss is keen to keep feet on the ground and hopes that his team’s blossoming form stays under the radar for as long as possible.

“We’re making all the right noises at the moment but hopefully we’re not making them too loud and other people aren’t noticing too much,” said Robertson.

“We’re unbeaten all year but we’re trying hard not to get too carried away. We’ve got to take it game by game and just concentrate on the next match in front of us.

“Whatever happens at the end of the season happens but if we keep going game by game, we’ll have every chance of having a good season.

“The attitude of the group has been fantastic and the club is in great shape on the pitch.

“We’ve got a great group of girls and they’re all fighting for the shirt – that competition is why I think we’re doing so well.”

Meg Attenborough tapped home from close range to put Town a goal to the good before Ellie Maynard and Meg Vella also notched to put the hosts in full control against Exeter before the break.

Swindon couldn’t add to their lead in the second period but had done more than enough to add another three points to aid their title challenge.

Town’s next outing sees them go to Keynsham Town next weekend.
