DARREN Coleman believes his Uruguay Sociedad side have moved into pole position to win the Division Three title following a magnificent 7-2 success at DH Fitness at the weekend.

The result, coupled with a goalless draw for league leaders DPR at Stratton Saints, has moved Sociedad within seven points of the summit with three games in hand.

Both Saints and Sociedad remain unbeaten in the league this term and although it is Stratton who have the points on the board, Coleman thinks his side are now in the driving seat.

“We are slowly catching up. We have played a few less games than them because of the weather but it’s going quite well for us at the moment,” said Coleman.

“They only drew at the weekend so you’d have to say that we are the favourites now.

“It will be difficult but we have got games in hand and we just have to make sure we win them. We need to play well for the rest of the year.”

Sociedad’s win over DH Fitness was not as routine as the scoreline suggests, with little to choose between them for three-quarters of the match.

DH actually broke the deadlock and only trailed by a single goal as the contest entered its closing stages before Sociedad’s class began to tell.

Dean McCulloch and Dane Moulden both got hat-tricks for the victors, with Mark Glover also on target to complete the win.

Boss Coleman added: “DH were a good team, I don’t think the scoreline really reflected how tough a game it was.

“It was 3-2 until the last 20 minutes and then we managed to find an extra gear and pull away.

“It was a good performance for us and hopefully that will turn out to be a big three points for us come the end of the season.”

Elsewhere in the division, Smart Movers were 5-1 winners at home to Eldene, while AFC Wedge were pushed all the way by Rudis in a 1-0 success.

Greyhound continue to set the pace at the top of Division One following a landslide 9-2 win at home to FC Walcot, with Deers Leap still three points behind thanks to their 4-2 triumph over Penhill United.

Rodbourne Real were the best performers in Division Two this weekend, beating AFC Moonrakers 4-1. Fairford Sunday saw off FS Swindon in the only other contest.

Nationwide put in a five-star performance in Division Four, downing bottom side Coleshill Youth 5-2, while Marlborough Town Casuals and PSV Swindon could not be separated in a 1-1 draw.

There was only one game in Division Five but it provided the scoreline of the day as Swindon Athletic gave basement boys Northern Lights the runaround with an emphatic 11-2 triumph.
