THE Swindon Primary Schools football season was brought to its traditional close on Saturday with the finals of four knockout competitions at Millbrook Primary School.
The Shield final between Goddard Park and Shaw Ridge opened the event, Shaw Ridge winning 4-0.
The Plate final between Abbey Meads and Even Swindon followed, with Even Swindon winning 4-0.
The Girls’ Cup final was between holders Holy Cross RC and county seven a-side champions Shaw Ridge, which was won with a last-minute goal from Holy Cross.
The climax to the event was the cup final between Lawn and Oakhurst.
Both sides were hoping to complete a double after winning their respective leagues.
An early strike gave Lawn the lead and they held on to lift the trophy for the first time.
“It was a fantastic ending to our season,” said Swindon PSFA secretary Steve Beale.
“All of the teams can be proud.”
