SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb is pleased to see the pieces of his jigsaw for next season coming together after the capture of three new signings this week.

Former Swindon Town youth player Ryan Wood, who was named on the bench for Town’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup in September 2013, signed with the Webb’s Wood outfit yesterday.

He joins Zak Westlake and Callum Parsons, brother of Marine striker Josh Parsons, who put pen to paper last week.

Westlake, who is married to Connor Thompson’s sister, joins from fellow Division One South & West outfit North Leigh, while Parsons has been a long-term target from Highworth Town.

“Ryan Wood is another young player that we are going to give an opportunity to,” said Webb about the 18-year-old.

“I am very excited about him. He is obviously a very talented individual and I am looking forward to seeing him.

“Callum is a player I have watched and he came in and played a game last pre-season but he decided that he was going to have another season with John Fisher at Highworth.

“Having watched him on several occasions last season, it was probably a good decision because he has matured and he is now one of the key players in Swindon I think.

“Zac was a player that impressed me.

“He is a lad who wants to win and wants to come to a team who are going to try and contend and challenge like we try to do every season.”

Meanwhile, seven other players, including Josh Parsons, have re-signed for the club and Webb is keen to get a few more faces in before they host Swindon Town in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 9.

“It’s still early days,” added Webb.

“We’ve still got a lot more players to see and a lot of the existing squad are away or we haven’t managed to sit down yet.

“Some have got other offers from different clubs and it is a very difficult time as a manager when you are not quite sure who is going to stay and who is going to go.

“We have talked to several players who we feel will improve the group but they are at different clubs and you have to play a bit of a waiting game.”
