PURTON are aiming to box clever as they continue to mix it with sides with better resources and facilities.

Justin Miller’s men finished seventh last term and the Red House chief is keen to keep his team as competitive as possible this season.

Miller said: “Compared to other clubs in the area, we’re probably punching above our weight a little bit.

“We don’t have lights and there might not be as much progression but we try and run it as professionally as possible and make it so that the lads enjoy it. – it is non-league football, at the end of the day, and it’s important to enjoy it.

“Last year, the squad probably wasn’t as big as we would have liked, so we’ve tried to add to it a little but we want to keep as much continuity as we can.

Pre-season is always tricky because it can be hard to get everybody together as a group. but hopefully, we’ll be ready for the season.

Ideally, we’d love to finish higher than we did last season but that’s always tough.”

“We don’t really set big targets; it’s something that we look to do on a three or four-game basis as we go on.”

Ollie Hunt and Joe Hiscocks have joined Purton from New College and Royal Wootton Bassett Town respectively, Jerome Dodson and Joe Herbert are back with the club after returning to the area, and the club have signed Tom Ballard from Fairford.
