SAM Parker slammed home a hat-trick on Saturday to inspire Malmesbury Victoria to an emphatic first victory since their promotion to the Toolstation League.

Following last season’s rise out of the Wiltshire League, Kevin Bridgeman’s side had endured a tough baptism at life at a higher level as their opening match of the campaign ended in a 3-1 loss at Roman Glass St George the previous weekend.

However, it has not taken Vics long to find their feet in the league above as they roared to a landslide 6-0 thrashing of Welton Rovers, who have now fallen to the bottom of the table as a result.

An early own goal gave Malmesbury the perfect start in their first game of the campaign at their Flying Monk Ground home before Parker grabbed the first of his treble.

Dan Cole then got in the act before Parker helped himself to two more goals to complete his hat-trick.

Vics were not done there, though, and there was still time for Lee Fernandez to find the back of the net and ensure Welton were hit for six.
