FAIRFORD TOWN'S addiction to goals showed few signs of abating as they blitzed Letcombe Sports 7-0 in Hellenic League Division One West this afternoon.

Gareth Davies' men have averaged close to six goals per league game since their only league defeat - against Abingdon United on the opening night of the season on August 2 - and the net was bulging repeatedly again as they followed up Saturday's 6-1 win at Shortwood United Reserves.

There were six different goalscorers in a side that showed just one change from Saturday, with Danny Hale replaced by Josh Morse in the frontline.

It was a frantic start as Jason Milhench opened the scoring with a well taken finish before Nathan Blackford opened his account for the campaign with a well-taken free-kick.

Fairford kept up the pressure and could have added to the scoreline, but had to wait until the stroke of half-time for the third – but it was worth the wait. A loose ball was met by Dan Drewett on the edge of the box and his first time right foot volley struck the post and in for a 3-0 half-time lead.

Milhench volleyed home his second just after the hour with the Reds enjoying plenty of possession and carving out chances a plenty. When a free-kick from Jack Ellis cannoned back off the crossbar, Scott Chilcott was on hand to head home the fifth goal of the day with 79 minutes on the clock.

Ellis then got his name on the scoresheet with a low drive for the sixth, with substitute Chris Jackson rolling home the seventh in off the post on the stroke of full-time.

Shrivenham bounced back from their first league defeat of the season on Saturday by romping to a 4-1 win at Woodstock Town today.

Michael McNally's men had been tripped up on home turf 2-0 by Hook Norton at the weekend, but put that slip behind them as Chris Rivers and Kias Bonner-Shea fired them two goals to the good by half time.

Woodstock halved their deficit with a penalty but a first away win of the season was confirmed as Levi Cox netted his first for the club and Jamie Prictor wrapped it up.

“It could’ve been five or six, but we just couldn’t take our chances,'' said McNally.

"In the first 20 minutes we could have had three or four, but we stuck at it and got what we wanted.

“We didn’t play great but we managed to get a win and I’m glad we got some more points on the board.”

New College secured their first win of the campaign as they secured the derby spoils with a 2-0 success over Purton.
