HIGHWORTH Town have been handed a tough draw in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup as they prepare to face Havant and Waterlooville.

Jeff Roberts’ were in the draw after they saw off Eastbourne Town at the weekend, thanks to a hat-trick from Aysa Corrick.

“I had a text from the chairman who told me, it’s a tough one for us to go down there and get anything from it - at the end of the day we can turn up and give it a good go,” said the Highworth manager

“A lot of people thought we might have gone out on Saturday. We played really against well but Havant will be a really tough test.

“It’s not a bad draw for us really, it is a challenge they beat Sholing on Saturday and they are a good side, we just have to go down there and think about ourselves.”

Most people will remember south coast side for their heroic performance in the 2008 FA Cup, in which they beat Notts County and Swansea City before losing to Liverpool at Anfield 5-2.

Highworth’s opponents will be a tough proposition for Highworth as they have several experienced players in their squad, including former Yeovil striker James Hayter and Welsh international Brian Stock.

“We need to go out there and make it hard for them. The only thing about it is it’s in two weeks' time so hopefully, at a stretch, we will have Ashley Edenborough to be fit and Ross Adams is on his way back now too,” added the Highworth boss.

"The second qualifying round was always going to be a tough, we are going to be underdogs, they just have to go down there and enjoy it.”

Swindon Supermarine and Chippenham Town are also involved in this stage of proceedings, with Dave Webb’s Marine facing Farnborough at home.

Chippenham Town will be full of confidence for when they welcome Poole Town after they defeated Moneyfields 9-0.  All three sides will play their ties on Saturday, September 17.
