CHILLI Shak have already put the heat on their Division Two rivals after kicking off the season in stunning fashion with a rampant 9-2 success away at Wanborough.

The side formerly known as Uruguay Sociedad were promoted from Division Three last term and have had no problems at all adjusting to a higher level.

Lee Toomey led the way with four goals, Chester Dolisznyj chipped in with two, while Dan Pepper, Dean McCulloch and Mark Glover were also on target.

Chilli manager Darren Coleman said: “It was a really good result. We have got quite a few new players in from last year so it was a good way to start.

“We have done a lot of recruitment and have got a few young lads in to give us a bit more speed.

“We want to be up there challenging in both the league and the cup but we will just see how it goes. It is all about players being available every week at this level.

“We don’t really know too much about the other teams, a few went up with us last year but hopefully we can have a good season and push towards the top three.”

Elsewhere, Woodlands Edge romped to a 6-3 success at home to Cleeve Tech, while Fairford Town Sunday won 3-1 on the road at DH Fitness.

AFC Gas are the early pace-setters in Division One after being the only side to taste victory at the weekend in a narrow 2-1 success at home to Jovial Monk. The only other match in the top tier produced a 10-goal thriller as Penhill United shared the spoils away at FC Walcot.

There were a trio of five-star performances in Division Three, with AFC Cricklade the best of those as they were 5-0 winners away at Purton Freshbrook. Eldene and Croft Junior both also picked up three points on the road, beating Moovahome and Stratton Saints respectively by the same 5-1 scoreline.

Athletico Marlborough hit home side Smart Movers for six in Division Four on the way to a 6-1 drubbing. Coleshill Youth were a cut above Gorsehill Borough, winning 5-0, while Swindon Athletic eased to a 4-0 success over Rudis.

It was goals galore in Division Five as no fewer than 40 flew in across the four matches played, with Purton Red House leading the way with an 11-1 thrashing of Sevenfield United.

Highworth Town Sunday were equally impressive in a 10-1 win at Paxton House United, while Swindon Rovers romped to a 9-0 triumph at Northern Lights. The closest match produced the fewest goals but it was by no means a dull affair as Save on Tyres Athletic edged out Cricklade Park Rangers 5-3.
