DAVE Webb insists that his focus is firmly on Swindon Supermarine despite being linked with the vacant job at Cirencester Town.

The Corinium Stadium outfit, who ply their trade in Southern League Premier Division, parted company with long-term manager Brian Hughes at the weekend.

And while Jody Bevan and Keith Knight have taken temporary charge of the Centurions, Webb is being touted a potential replacement for the former Swindon Town defender.

Cirencester chairman Steve Abbley, who played alongside Webb at Gloucester City, is thought to be after an experienced manager to replace Hughes with Webb and former Cinderford Town manager John Brough, who is in charge at North Leigh, believed to be in the frame.

He told the Advertiser’s sister paper Wilts and Glos Standard: “I’m hopeful that we will have someone in place by the FA Cup tie (on Saturday). I have two names in mind, but they are both in jobs at the moment.”

While Webb is flattered by the link, he says that all he is thinking about is the Shortwood United game this evening in Division One South and West and Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Farnborough.

“I suppose it shows that we are doing things right here if we are being linked with the job,” Webb told the Advertiser.

“However, my focus is here. We have got a big game against Shortwood followed by Farnborough in the cup – that is where my concentration is.

“I know Steve well, he is a good friend and is a real football man and over the years he has built some fantastic facilities.

“There has been no approach and if there was to be I’m sure that they would go through the proper channels and speak to the club.”

Josh Parsons will be looking to start this evening after coming off the bench during Saturday’s goalless draw with Larkhall Athletic, however, fellow forward Bradley Gray is still unavailable.

“Josh Parsons came on for the final 30 minutes on Saturday, which is his first game for two weeks as he has been out with suspension,” said Webb.

“We have got a doubt over Ryan Morgan as he picked up an impact injury on his shin.

“We have got good players at the club, we have got a great squad and everyone has to keep at it.”

Meanwhile, Royal Wootton Bassett Town travel to Tuffley Rovers in Hellenic League Premier Division tonight.
