SWINDON Supermarine climbed up to fourth in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West table with a 4-0 victory over Shortwood United tonight.

Dave Webb’s side claimed their first league triumph since the middle of August as Josh Parsons netted twice against the Gloucestershire side.

Marine, held 0-0 by Larkhall Athletic in the lead on Saturday, got their campaign back on the right track and were two goals to the good by the interval.

Parsons gave his side the lead as he tapped home after a fine ball from Joe Selman and the lead was doubled before the break as Connor Waldon crossed for Selman to apply the finishing touch.

Waldon himself had a couple of chances to extend the lead but he turned provider again in the second half as his fine cross was turned home by Parsons.

Parsons claimed a hat-trick late on as Zak Westlake’s header found the net with the striker claiming a touch for the fourth.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town were unable to make up ground towards the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Tuffley Rovers.

Bassett fell behind early on as Shayne Bradley headed in at the far post from a free kick to give Tuffley the advantage.

It remained that way until half time but after the interval, Steve Robertson got them back on level terms with the equaliser.

The visitors' joy was shortlived as, straight from the kick-off, Marcus Foxwell scored to regain the lead for Tuffley.

A Warren Mann penalty sealed the points for the hosts late on.
