MALMESBURY Victoria continue to set the pace in the First Division of the Toolstation League after claiming a seventh win in their opening 10 league games with a 2-0 success away at Ashton & Backwell United.

Kevin Bridgeman’s side have also collected two draws in that period, only being beaten once, and are currently one point above Wellington at the top of the standings.

The former Wiltshire League side, who were promoted at the end of last season, led at the break in Bristol courtesy of Sam Parker’s strike.

Malmesbury they made the points safe in the second half when Shane Bumphrey doubled the advantage.

Vics are on the road again on Tuesday night and make the short trip south to take on county rivals Chippenham Park.
