FAIRFORD Town continued their fine start to the Division One West season with a 4-0 win over Easington Sports on Saturday, as goals from Jack Ellis, Matt Boucher and a double from Jason Milhench fired them to victory.

With 24 minutes played Ben Saunders found Ellis who kept his composure before slotting past visiting goalkeeper Jack Goode.

The home side doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second half when Boucher collected the ball 25 yards out before applying a pinpoint finish into the top corner.

With just over 15 minutes left to play Jason Milhench got himself on the scoresheet for the third with a fizzing effort.

The Fairford man then added the fourth from the spot after he had been brought down to add the final goal of another impressive afternoon’s work.

Manager Gareth Davies told the Swindon Advertiser his squad have the potential to achieve something this season after another impressive win.

“Once we got into our stride again things started to go well, we came out in the second half defensively we were superb, going forward we will always be a threat,” said the Fairford manager.

“The players we have at the minute are very good at our level I think some are too good, we are lucky to have some of them.

“We have a knack of breaking down teams, when the ball goes in the box it seems to go our way, the players have the potential to achieve something this year.”

Davies’ men will hope to close the three points between them and leaders Hook Norton when they return to league action after this weekend’s FA Vase match away at Fleet Spurs.

Shrivenham played out a 0-0 draw against North Leigh and Michael McNally will hope his team can carry their league form into the cup when they travel to Woodley United for the Challenge Cup.

Purton’s Matt Bennett grabbed the winning goal for Justin Miller’s side as they recorded a 1-0 win over Abingdon United at home.

The victory came after a stalemate against Shortwood United Reserves last week and Purton will aim to make it two from two when they go to Cirencester Town Development on Saturday.

Swindon New College had a weekend to forget as they were thumped 8-1 by Cirencester Town Development, they’ll now play Melksham Town in the FA Vase.

Meanwhile in the Premier Division, Royal Wootton Bassett slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Flackwell Heath at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.
