SWINDON Supermarine sailed into the second round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup with an 8-0 demolition of Malmesbury Victoria.

It took less than 10 minutes for the Southern League Division One South & West side to open the scoring against their Western League opponents.

Lewis Thompson broke the deadlock before netting his second 20 minutes later when he got on the end of a cross not initially meant for him.

Thompson had wrapped up his hat-trick before the break to put Marine 3-0 to the good, with both posts and the crossbar having come to Malmesbury’s aid earlier on.

Dave Webb’s side extended their advantage shortly after the break with a solo effort from Josh Parsons before full-back Ryan Morgan scored from a tight angle to make it five.

Thompson was not finished with filling his boots as he netted two more, either side of Morgan’s second, to complete the rout.

Meanwhile, it was another big defeat for Wiltshire League side Wroughton as they fell to a 5-0 loss away to Southern League Premier Division outfit Chippenham Town.

Ollie While turned into his own net in just the second minute before Dave Pratt made it two inside five.

Chippenham hit their third on 24 minutes through Alan Griffin before second-half strikes from Andy Sandell and James Guthrie secured the hosts safe progression into the next round.

Hellenic Premier Division side Royal Wootton Bassett Town host Division One West rivals Purton tonight, while Highworth Town have been handed a walkover in their clash against Shrewton United.

In the Gloucestershire FA Trophy, Fairford Town secured a place in the third round with a 4-1 home victory over Longlevens.

Gareth Davies side raced into a 3-0 lead as Jason Milhench, Josh Morse and Lee Smith all netted for the hosts in the first half.

Martin Brad added nothing more than a consolation goal in the second period before Smith netted his second in injury time.
