SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb has stated his side will face their toughest home test so far this season when Evesham visit the Webb’s Wood Stadium this weekend.

Marine go into the game on the back of an emphatic 8-0 win over Malmesbury Victoria in the Wiltshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, something which Webb viewed as perfect preparation for Evesham’s visit.

“I was really pleased with the win. We have used a lot of players who needed valuable minutes so it was a really good evening,” said the Marine chief.

“We played really well and scored eight goals and dominated throughout, which you would expect us to do.

“For me, Evesham are one of the top sides in our division. Undoubtedly they’ll be pushing for the play-offs this season.

“Last year, they just missed out after a slow start but they came on strong. They’re on a good bit of league form and it’s probably our toughest home game of the season so far.

“We will have to be at our very best this weekend if we are to get the better of a very strong Evesham side.”

This will be Marine’s first Southern League game since the end of last month and manager Webb is itching to get back in action.

“It’s nice to get back to league action, that’s what it is about; it’s our bread and butter. We have a tough week ahead with three very tough games in it,” added Webb.

“The FA Cup was disappointing but we have put that behind us. These are the big games that you look forward to so you can test yourself.”

Webb also highlighted the importance of squad rotation as his team still have five games left to play in October.

“I’m very lucky. We have an excellent group; they’re all good players and they all want to play but they’ll all play their part through the season,” he said.

“I have the problem of trying to pick the right team for the right game. The squad is strong and we have a young group.”

Ryan Morgan will not be available for selection this weekend as he is suspended and Ash Taylor remains a doubt.
