PENHILL United gave their manager Graham Dunn the perfect birthday present on Sunday as they sailed into the second round of the County Cup.

Goals from Sid Davis, Johan Sutton, Arran Welland, Darren Smart and Dave Rendle meant the hosts swept Purton Red House aside in an emphatic 12-1 home victory.

Davis and Sutton both got a goal each, while Welland claimed two, Smart bagged a hat-trick and Rendle got five as they led 12-0 before conceding a late consolation.

“It was a good win, on my birthday as well, so I was happy. It could have been more because we missed a lot of chances,” said Dunn.

“Especially in the second half, when they (Purton Redhouse) went down to nine men because two of them were injured and they didn’t have any substitutes.

“We played well and we are happy with the win, I was over the moon really to come away with that result.

“I didn’t expect us to get 12, I thought it would be a harder match. It surprised all of us I think but we are happy with the result and look forward to next weekend where we go again.”

From Swindon Sunday Division One, there were also wins for AFC Gas, Greyhound FC and last year’s winners FC Walcot.

There were six games involving Division Two sides which amounted to more than 40 goals collectively.

The highest scoring was Chilli Shak’s 7-2 win away to Westbury Conservative Club but was followed closely by Woodlans Edge’s 6-2 away defeat to Division One leaders Greyhound.
