SUPERMARINE manager Dave Webb wants a reaction against Wimborne Town after watching his side lose 3-1 at home to Evesham United at the weekend.

Marine were comprehensively humbled by the Robins and Webb wants his men to be harder to beat as they travel to Dorset in the Southern League Division One South & West tonight.

After falling short against an aggressive and physical side, the Webb's Wood Stadium boss claims his players will have to match any physicality shown by Wimborne.

“They are a good side and they have a good management team in there,” said the Marine chief.

“Any physicality they throw at us, we will have to match, but they’re a good footballing side from the reports I have heard. They managed to push Hereford close at the weekend.

“They’ll try and get the ball down to play like we will, so it should be a very good game of football. We want to go there and play some good football, but we also need to be harder to beat.”

The weekend’s defeat leaves Supermarine in fifth place, one point behind their conquerors Evesham, who have 21 points so far this season.

Webb’s latest opponents will be no pushovers as they too are going well in the league – they are just outside the play-off places in seventh.

The Marine manager wants his side to show character and ability as they bid to get back to winning ways.

“If we go there feeling sorry for ourselves, we will lose again so we need to take stock of where we are at and try improve in the next game. It’s a big game for us now,” added Webb.

“We need to show a reaction very quickly. Wimborne are much-improved. This group has a lot of character. There are a lot of good footballers in our dressing room and they have to show that.”
