SWINDON Supermarine slumped to a 4-0 defeat away to Bideford this weekend as their winless streak stretched to five games.

Dave Webb’s side have been struggling with form of late, with their last win coming at the end of last month, and Webb admits the results aren’t up to scratch.

“At the moment, collectively we just aren’t good enough. It’s down to me now to try and sort it out but the players need to do what they’re good at otherwise the results won’t change,” said Webb.

“We are going through a difficult period which is there for all to see. We’ve conceded a lot of goals in the last five games and only scored twice.

“We’ve started to concede a lot of goals, so that is the first thing we need try and address. The facts are there for everyone to see and we need to get back to doing what we do well.

“We fell short. Bideford are a good side and were worthy winners.”

The hosts opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Will Richards gave them a 1-0 lead they would take into the break.

It was Richards again who would cause trouble for Supermarine in the second period as he doubled the advantage in the 57th minute before completing his hat-trick 13 minutes later.

With score at 3-0, Marine's Josh Parsons was then handed a straight red for a challenge on the hat-trick hero.

Just as Webb thought things could get much worse for his side, Bideford added a fourth late on when the ball was deflected in from a Jack Richards free-kick in the 87th minute.

Webb believes the fixture congestion of both October and November may be a contributory factor, but stands by his players to turn it around.

“I back this group and I have done all season, but I think we are struggling a bit mentally at the moment. We look jaded and tired,” said the Marine manager.
