SPECTRUM boss Bryan Watson admits Saturday’s first league victory of the campaign was ‘a long time coming’ for his side.

Striker Arron Northcott scored twice and centre-back Aaron Taylor notched from a set-piece as the Nalgo Sports Ground side edged out fellow strugglers North Swindon WMC 3-2, Dwaine Dodson and Sheldon Milstom with the replies.

Watson said: “It’s been long awaited and I’m definitely pleased.

“I lost about seven senior players last season and although we have replaced them it has taken time to gel.

“We’ve begun to play a bit in parts and now we just need a bit of consistency. I’m hopeful we will continue to improve and go on a bit of a run.

“It (the winless run) has been a bit of a monkey on our backs but we’ve got that little bit of confidence now so we can push on.’’ Elsewhere in the top flight, Deers Leap went third as they put FC Dorcan to the sword 5-1.

Levi Kuenen led the scoring with a brace, while Michael Chivers, Daniel Hiscocks and Aston Glover also weighed in.

Adam Bedwell hit the Dorcan reply.

Swindon Spitfires and Ramsbury slipped in the table as they played out a 4-4 goal at South Marston.

Joshua Archer scored twice for the Spitfires, as did Matthew Darvell and Gareth Brown for Ramsbury, Luke Burroughs and Nolan Paul adding the other two for the Spitfires.

Sportz Central secured a 4-1 win over Village Inn, Dezlon Antao, Regan Pereira and Alisto Pires among the goalscorers.

Leaders Tawny Owl saw their game with Swindon Centurians postponed.

Stratton Juniors took advantage of Sport4Pinehurst’s slip-up to storm to the top of the Division One table with a 3-1 win at Chiseldon, for whom Tom Davis was on target.

Lyneham closed up behind Sport4Pinehurst by defeating them 4-2 in their encounter, while Moredon stayed fourth as they soundly defeated Swindon AFC 4-0.

Paul Stevens netted a double for the winners, Tom Goodey adding a penalty and Carl Wyatt also on target.

Old Town United picked up their third win of the season by seeing off winless Core Construction 3-1, Joe Miller, Aaron Williams and Ashley Wallace with the goals. Todd Mears replied.

Lower Stratton round out the top five after they got past Wroughton Reserves 3-2, Diogo Casiniro scoring twice and Jamie Saunders adding a penalty. Darryll Chambers responded twice for Wroughton.
