ALL signs may point to Purton extending their unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions when they roll out the red carpet for struggling Tytherington Rocks but manger Justin Miller isn’t counting his chickens just yet.

The Rocks, who are second-from-bottom in Division One West, will arrive at the Red House on Saturday without a league win to their name but Miller doesn’t believes that means they’ll crumble easily against his fourth-placed side.

“They’ve drawn a lot of games and got some good results, so you know that you can’t take anything for granted,” said the Purton boss.

“As long as we take care of ourselves and go into the game with the right attitude, then hopefully we can get the right result.

“We played Fairford a few weeks ago (a 2-2 draw on October 19) and they’re the benchmark in this division but we more than competed with them, so we shouldn’t fear anyone in this league.

“We’re on a good run but from our point of view, I think that we should have scored a lot more goals than we have done.

“We need to be more clinical and that’s not just the strikers but the midfield as well.

“We’ve missed a lot of chances in games and if we’d taken some of those, then we’d be in an even better position in the table than we are right now.”

Elsewhere, leaders Fairford Town return to action in the league with a trip to Cheltenham Saracens, while New College host Shortwood United Reserves.

Shrivenham are on the road at Letcombe and after a spirited display against Premier Division Bracknell Town in the Challenge Cup last weekend, manager Michael McNally is hoping it will be a case of more of the same from his troops.

He said: “We’re expecting a difficult game at Letcombe. It’s a wide pitch there and it can be a pretty tough place to go.

“But if we play like we did in our last game, then we’ll should be able to go there and get a good result.

“The problem with Shrivenham at the moment is that you never know what you’re going to get but we know what we can do when we’re at our best.”
