SWINDON Supermarine will be looking to make it two wins from two when they host Yate Town on Saturday afternoon.

Dave Webb’s side go into the game after three trips on the spin, including Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Barnstaple Town.

The Supermarine manager also stressed the importance of winning at home if his side are to have a successful campaign.

“We talked about our home form being important and we have lost four games at home. Two of them were against good sides,” said Webb.

“Although you don’t want to lose, it sits better when it is against top opposition. The other two games, we simply weren’t at the races.

“Saturday is another game. If we are playing at the right level and we go about our work in the right way, we should hopefully get a win.

“Our home form is absolutely key and we had a long trip to Barnstaple on Tuesday, so it will be good to play in front of a home crowd.”

With just a handful of games between the weekend’s clash with Yate Town and Christmas, Webb believes it would be better to judge his side after the festive period.

“We are unbeaten in three games and have moved up a spot into the play-off places. We are a couple of games away from Christmas, so we’ll see where we are then,” said the Marine chief.

“Yate are not going to be easy. I know that. We are playing at home, so we have to use that to our advantage if we can.

“There are not any easy games in this league anymore but I’m confident the players will be in the right frame of mind on Saturday.

“They’ll be determined to get a win in front of a home crowd, as well as remaining in the play-off places over Christmas."

Following their narrow victory over Barnstaple in midweek, Webb was also happy about the way his side were able to grind out all three points.

“It’s a good sign when you show a different side of how you can play to get a result,” said the Supermarine boss.

“When you sit on a coach for three hours and then have to get off and perform; I was over the moon with the performance, how we dug in and were able to get a result at what is quite a tough place to go.”
