SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb is fully committed to guiding his team into the semi-final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

The Webbswood Stadium side welcome Sydenhams League Division One side Downton this evening with a place in the last four of the county’s premier knockout competition.

The Southern League Division One South and West play-off chasing side are the highest ranked team left in the revamped cup after seeing off Premier Division neighbours Chippenham Town in the previous round.

While Marine could be forgiven for placing their focus on their bid to making a fourth play-off campaign in five seasons, Webb insists that while there will be changes from Saturday’s 3-1 success over Yate Town, he wants a place in the semi-finals.

“We will trying to win the game 100 per cent,” Webb said. “We will change the team from the one that started against Yate.

“We want to get the players a good amount of minutes, hopefully we will have enough about us to do it properly.

“We have had enough about us in the other round so far and we will be looking to do that again and then get another favourable draw in the semi-final.”

Fairford Town manager Gareth Davies is expecting a much sterner test of his side’s mettle this evening as they welcome Henley Town to Cinder Lane in the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup.

The Reds romped to a 17-0 victory over Division One West strugglers Cheltenham Saracens on Saturday.

However, with Henley plying their trade at the level above, Davies knows that his team won’t get an easy run out despite the visitors, who lost 4-0 at Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday, sitting second-from-bottom in the Premier Division.

“They will be a different kettle of fish to Cheltenham Saracens, teams from the next level always are,” Davies said.

“But I don’t tend to look at what the other side are doing, if we focus on doing our jobs properly then, on our day, we will give anyone a game. If we play to our potential then we should get a good result.

“Everyone has come through (Saturday okay), the three lads on the bench got a decent amount of minutes on Saturday, so we will change it around a little bit.”
